I just installed 285/70/17 Cooper At/3. Max cold pressure is 44 lbs. does anyone have this set up and what are you running yours at? Currently mine are at 40.
I haven't run those tires specifically but having an '01, a '10 and now a '13 (all 4x4 & basically stock) I've found the best combo of handling, driving and tire life comes from, among other things, running 40 in the front and 36 in the rear, always checked cold when parked in exactly the same place using exactly thesame pressure gauge every single time.
"Other things" include regular pressure checks, consistent tire balancing & rotation, regular suspension & brake system maintenance, etc. There was a set of Michelins I drove on for 110,000 miles (on the '01)- they were all still barely able to pass inspection but all 4 did.
