I have been wondering about something lately. Would there be any gain to relocating the intake air temp sensor from the intake to somewhere else, such as one of the airbox tubes or in the airbox itself? Wouldn't having the sensor somewhere cooler give a better reading of actual air temps than having it in a hot intake manifold right over the exhaust?
I realize this question may be silly but I am just asking since I am not sure. Thanks in advance.
There has to be something to that line of thinking. Because when the 5.0 went from speed density to maf, they moved it from the manifold to the air box.
It's actually more accurate in the manifold, as it's reading the temperature as it heads to the combustion chamber. I think moving it had to do with a number of things, one of which is cleanliness of the sensor....they get pretty gunked up in the manifold.
