zf5 capacity
I cannot ever seem to remember this.

how many qt's does the zf5 call for. 3?

I bought one gallon of ATF and seemed to use about 3.5 quarts area?

I really need to change mine again since the unit is clean and pump it full of Redline D4.

About 3.8 quarts. I overfilled by 1 quart through the shifter so 5 total

Yeah, i always overfill mine as well
But i cannot remember if i bought a gallon + a qt or just a gallon last time.

Usually, when you covert to a solid flywheel you get some gear rollover noise. The extra quart helps to reduce it

I have a SMF on mine, the only good thing the previous owner did. Maybe I will try it, yet the sound does not really bother me much. Now what I can use is a new shift boot. I keep meaning to order the thing!

1 qt overfill makes it shift a bit smoother and stay quieter.

Just remember, Synthetic ATF.

I will give it a shot. I use Redline for my top shelf syn lubricants.
