Rotisserie

I've spent about a year now getting my shop back into usable shape to start my F-100 resurrection. I think I took her off the road 5 years ago. So now it is finally time to start.
I've decided to use a rotisserie for both the frame and the cab resto, after searching the net for quality, features and price I came up with a Titan ROT-4500, from www.mile-x.com .
Does anyone have a better choice before I buy? Or any suggestions on use.

I never had the money or room to own anything that magnificent but that sure looks like a nice one.

[QUOTE=Crop Duster;17675089]I never had the money or room to own

I hear ya, it took me a year to make the room, put up a 13x28 tent garage and moved a lot of stuff out of the shop, then I reorganized the shop, gave away or tossed a lifetimes worth of crap. It's actually looking pretty good for the first time in 10 years. I figured if I don't get started soon I'll die before I drive her again. And I do miss her.

That is a dandy looking piece of equipment. Will you have other uses for it after the truck? Since you have a space cleared, you have room to build your own, not that complicated but it would take time it that is a concern.

If I don't die first, my end-game is to do the '66, then my '76 CJ , then enjoying the 2, any new classics after that I will buy 95% complete, getting too old for this stuff, after that it would go to my 3 boys, all 3 of whom play with classics.

My paint guy had a similar contraption that he made from two engine stands, with outriggers added for stability. He really needed it for the big unibody cars he worked on. IIRC the two stands weren't connected.
We didn't use it when we disassembled my truck in his shop. We enlisted the help of two more guys for the cab and a hoist to help to flip the box. Four guys can handle the frame, too. We put the frame on waist-high steel horses he scored from a rebar company.

I probably wouldn't buy it just for the cab, but I'm doing a lot of modification to the frame, and my welding skills are much better right side up. I think I'm using the '66 2wd frame and modifying for 4wd, then I'm converting to air ride on all 4 corners.

Picked up the Rotisserie today and assembled it, looks pretty good. I may re-machine some parts to make them fit better, but I think I like it. was $999 delivered, no shipping no tax. Bought it from Mile-X, ( https://www.mile-x.com/titan-rot-450...RoCkg0QAvD_BwE ), got it quick, no hassle.

Did a quicky patch on the exhaust on the '66 and installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge so I could check out this 300. It failed quality control so it looks like I'll have to rebuild it. Gonna make some room for the cab and nose tomorrow so I can strip the rest of the body off the 2wd frame.

Eric: What exactly was it that would need "re-machined"??

Thanks!

Just poor engineering, I'd guess it's a Chinese copy of a nice machine.
all the bolt and pin holes are to big for the bolts and pins, all the bolts are marked 4.8 which from what I remember grade 8.8 is equal to a grade 5 sae bolt . there are a bunch of lock bolts to secure things when it's adjusted and they welded nuts on for them to thread into on the outside of each piece, and they are just tacked in 2 places. If you tighten the lock too tight you'll probably tear the welds.

The design looks good and I think it will work well if I make everything tight. It would be tough to do nice work on something if it was moving around. Keep in mind it was dirt cheap at 999 so I expected to do some work to it. I'm happy with what I got for what I paid.

On a brighter note I made a couple of more shelves Yesturday in the shop and re-arranged some stuff to make room to put the cab and nose up on a rack while I do the frames.
