Need help in SoCal

Hi everyone. I'm new to FTE but have been reading a lot of threads here to help narrow down what Ex to buy. I narrowed it down to a 02-03 V10 or 7.3.
I found a nice 2003 7.3 in La Habra Ca, but know nothing about diesels. I'm ready to buy but would feel a lot more comfortable with someone that has more experience in the 7.3 world that knows what to look for. I'd buy it and figure it out with time but I live in El Paso Tx. I can't risk breaking down on the 12hr drive home.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Daniel

Nice find. If they took the time and money to do that conversion, then there is a good chance they took care of the vehicle, too.

That said, be careful. There are some people doing these conversions that cut corners.

That's why I'm a little concerned. I know my way around cars and this conversion feels kind of put together in a rush. Lots of details on the interior that I noticed but not concerning as I am able to fix all the issues myself. I own a 2000 6.8L F250 with 156k on the clock and my truck feels a lot more powerful then the 7.3 I just test drove. 😔 I really want this truck but can't afford to break down on my way back home.

Well, they did spend the money to do the rear fenders.... most don't if they want to save.

Update. I didn't end up buying this beautiful Ex 2014 conversion. I took it to a shop to get checked out and it wasn't the 7.3L I was hoping it was. Of the 2 main things I narrowed my search down too, engine size (6.8L v10 or 7.3L diesel) and 4x4 it had neither. It's a beautifully done update from a 2014 F250 platinum edition with the 6.7 power stroke all the way down to the dash and full interior. I decided to wait it out and find the 7.3 4x4 limited and do a 2015 conversion myself. That being said now I need to search on here to see if there's any conversion threads already out there. I wonder how difficult it is to wire a 2015 dash to 02-03 body. I know some people make plug and play harness adaptors for other cars in the import world but this might not be so easy on the ford Truck side.
Here are a few more pics of the Excursion that almost was.
