10-Speed does wonders for the 5.0L

I was amazed at how close they really were in the video below. I've also seen a regular cab 10-Speed 5.0L run the 1/4 in just over 13 seconds. When in doubt more gears!

Wheel spin really kills the EB in 2WD. The all new 5.0 and the 10 speed are very impressive.

I'd love to see how that stout little 2.7L would fare against these two tow monsters.

If I was forced into a new F-150 it would be a 5.0. Although I think if my current f150 was totaled I'd jump to a 6.2 Super Duty.

If the twin turbos didn't take so long to spool up the 5.0 would stand a chance in round one.

They are already spooled when you boost launch.

What that video shows is the guy originally driving the 5.0 is a better driver.
He beat the other guy with both trucks.

This really needs to be done on a track with actual times. Not worrying about reaction time just launching when the driver is ready and a good time/speed being posted.

Look at the dyno numbers in this video comparing a 2018 F150 5.0 to a 2016, they used the same tires/wheels on both trucks.

Does anybody notice anything strange about the claimed hp/tq increase compared to the graph? Dyno starts at 5:13

If the ecoboost driver in race #1 didn't boost launch why were his tires spinning before he let off the brakes?

You can clearly see him get on the gas early, the trucks rear end comes up, exhausts starts blowing ect.
Wheels start spinning before the start.

He boost launched.

Why does it matter if the EB truck was in boost or not during the launch. Remember it is 1.5L shy of the Coyote to begin with and it WAS supposed to be a drag race...

Because the EB has been faster up to this point. Because of it's torque specs, the EB will always be the better towing engine.
