Power steering
I have a 1976 f150 with a 360 in it and I'd just like to know how much power steering fluid it takes. It's a complete restoration and pump was cleaned out and the gearbox also new lines so it's completely empty, just need to know how much so I know how much fluid to buy

I think there was more than one option for pumps that year. If you have the owner's manual, it'll be listed in the capacities section near the back. For an estimate, I think mine took around 1 quart. Caution: some of these pumps required F type transmission fluid, I know mine did. Not sure if they all require it or not.
Don't forget to jack the front of the truck up, remove the cap, and turn lock to lock a bunch to bleed the air out of the lines.

About a quart of TYPE F ATF (used in all 1950's/80's P/S pumps).

Having just filled up my rebuilt Bendix power assist with the Mercon V I have laying around . . . I wonder - does it really matter what kind of ATF you use for power steering? It seems like it would be more important in a transmission where friction is a big deal.
