How bad is it? If you can get to it try drilling a hole into the bolt and using an easy out bit. I havent had to mess with my transfer case yet thanks to the previous owner letting the Ford house service it less than 2000 miles ago "thank god" but those bits work on just about any bolt if you can get to them. Let me know, the circumstances. I haven't looked at it but I assume that it is a recessed square drive, I'll go look at it today.
You're right about the filler bolt for transfer case being a recessed square drive.
There is plenty of room to drill a hole but I'm a little hesitant too. I was reading at nother site that Sears has a socket that should removed stripped bolts..not sure if those will work because of the complete circular head. I'm goign down to give it look.

Those recessed square drives are trickey, but so am I. Take a chisle that roughly fits diagonally across the inside of the square and hammer it in, the chisle needs to be heavy duty and have a shaft that consist of six flat sides so you can turn it with a wrench. once you have sucessfully hammered it in turn the chisle with a wrench and you should turn the bolt also. An added bonus of this method is that it loosens the bolt when you hammer the chisle in, due to the vibration, and makes the bolt more likley to break loose.

Some good news and some bad news about my stripped outfiller bolt for the transfer case....
I just went down to this transmission shop to see if I could pay them to remove the stripped out bolt and the owner of the shop said to just leave it alone. He said that bolt anodizes (basically welds itself" to the transfer case and you are not going to get it off. To fill it up he said to add oil through the speedometer hole.
Have other peole had this same experience?
