I've always had issues with painters in non-collision/insurance type situations - and that was tested recently when my wife backed into my truck! I used 2 different shops for the work and both were quick and great work.

Outside of that, it's hard to find a good one that does what and when they say they'll do it, at least in my experience. The work you've had so far has been superior at least from the forum view from a far and hope that continues. Hopefully he'll get caught up and put you on the schedule again soon. You've come so far with this project; it must be frustrating to be getting so close and have delays.

Another significant component of this project is the fact that most of the shops doing this kind of restoration work operate on a time and materials basis. They charge by the hour and add the material costs to the bill. That means there is absolutely zero incentive to get the job completed in a timely manner. The more billable hours the better, regardless of how much is actually accomplished. You can't find a shop that will take on a restoration project on any other basis. I can see why they do it, but it opens the door to abuses. This is similar to how the Feds do business with private firms. It also explains how our tax money goes to buy a single toilet that costs $100,000.

I am still alive and I really appreciate the concern. Unfortunately, I have had a litany of health issues to work through in the last several months which included a trip to the hospital. Getting old is not all it is cracked up to be. To top it off, my wife just came down with the China Virus and I am expecting to do the same any time now. I am the only one in my immediate family who hasn't had it but that doesn't figure to last for long.

Last December, I picked up a new 2020 F-150 short box truck. I did post most of the mods I made on that truck over on the 2015-2020 forum, but I haven't done anything with that thread in a few months as well. Actually there isn't much left to update.

I am going to get back on the old trucks as soon as my health improves and I will post updates when I do.

Thanks again for the concern.

OB, take care of your health first. I'm an old guy too and also deal with other things age related, but ya gotta keep going until you can't IMO.

I'll check out your thread on the new forum, thanks for the update.

First, you have done some amazing work on your '58! I can not wait to start on mine.

My question is about your frame. How did you know whether to refurbish your existing frame versus ordering a new one? You have done a lot of your to your old frame, (I am not asking for dollar amounts) would it have been less expensive to order new?

Why did you go with the 351? I have a 460 from a '93 F250 and have considered using it as a donor, but it is way to early for me to make that decision.
