DTC code 1342...what could be the probable outcome be?
Hi all
My truck just started throwing DTC B1342 (in IABM Airbag module) today. I hooked up FORScan Lite and cleared it twice and it came back both time. It is to dark here to do further troubleshooting and just wanted to see if anyone else has received this code and what they went thru to fix it.
Ok good feedback on it being a "Body" code, BUT not good news as a B1342 is for a faulty computer, probably a faulty GEM = Generic Electronic Module. Do you have a lit dash ABS light, or other problems with things controlled by the GEM, like power windows, wipers, air bags, A/C control, or Other trouble code Numbers?
Yes I do have a flashing airbag light on start up. No other codes or lights except for the normal ones for the power windows (I have manual) and such. I will check the fuses today when I get home from work. I will also pull the right side kick panel to check for the installed ECS part number and check the connector and clean contacts. I have the factory service manual. I am a bit confused as to what tests to run, Pinpoint "A" or "B". It also says something about a LIF(?) lamp fault and you are suppose to count the flashes but there is no chart to compare it to when counting the flashes.
count flashes and just google the number of flashes,,,,mine was for a bad led bulb in airbag control under the heater and beside ash tray,,,,there is a different number for seat belts and so on
Well when I went out to the truck to take it to work this morning at O-dark-30, the B1342 code came back along with the "2-4" LFC code. but it went away this afternoon when I went to lunch and was not there when I left to go home.
Looks to be an intermittent fault. They are the worst types to troubleshoot.
