Turbo surge in 2002 7.3
I am sure this has been covered but I have a 2002 F-350 and I have noticed while towing my 5th wheel that when going up a hill I get what sounds like bubbling water from the intake and I believe I am getting surge. I have heard that the Wicked Wheel 2 will take care of the surge, but I have also heard of people that it didn't help. Trying to go up hills here in Idaho I lose a lot of speed until it will finally kick down to 2nd and then I can gain some back. I don't think it should be so hard for this truck to tow a 8000lb 5th wheel. My 2014 F-150 towed it quite a bit quicker with the 5.0 V8.
Currently I have the red line unplugged and at full throttle I am getting 22 PSI unloaded (I haven't pulled my 5th wheel since I installed the boost gauge). I never get the surge when unloaded, only when towing. HALP!

Surge will be easy to see on the boost gauge. If you do not see it there it could be other boost leaks, especially if the boots and clamps are untouched originals.
I think any of the newer billet wheels will help you out. Both to cure the surge plus more boost and quicker spool up. I went with the Riff Raff billet wheel but the WW2 will be great too. I was also looking to cure surge when towing the 5er.
