I ordered the 6" Chrome Angular Extended Step on my 2018 F250. The price for this option was $230 when I ordered it. Both the dealer and I remarked that that price seemed low. Well, apparently someone at Ford discovered an error as the price of the option, on the build site, changed from $230 to $740. I would assume that, since I have a printout and purchase agreement on my order, Ford would have to honor the $230 price? Otherwise, what would prevent Ford from changing the price on anything that you order.
I would think they would, but sometimes dealers surprise you. I had a extended warranty from Toyota on our Tundra that included 4 oil changes. After 2 they told me I needed to pay for the next ones. I showed them the contract which had 4 printed on it and they said Yah sorry we changed that... anyway I digress :-) I think Ford will honor it they still need you to buy the truck and that always puts you in a good bargaining position.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the $230 for the extended running boards was only an upcharge for the chrome package, which included the standard length running boards. None of the Super Duty lower end trucks include running boards (I believe only base models to include any running boards are Platinum and possibly King Ranch), so by adding the chrome package it added the standard length running boards. The $230 was to "upgrade" to the longer, extended running boards is my understanding. If you buy the running boards standalone that aren't included in any package, that surely would be why the price is higher.
Yeah, Ford’s build site had this messed up ever since the 2017’s came out. My build sheet from the dealer reflects the right price though, $740. What does yours list for this option?
Window sticker for my truck shows $230 for the extended chrome steps and nothing regarding an upcharge. I also dont have the chrome package on my truck as well, so it's not included in that pricing.

Me too. $230 on the build sheet and purchase agreement. No chrome package. No steps of any kind.
Well . . . . this wasn't build and price . . . . . this is an actual order right off of their order system . . . I have the invoice price . . . the dealer price . . . and a $1K down payment . . . . I don't see how they price could legitimately change . . . otherwise, what good is any deal you make . .

You mentioned "the build site":

That was the only "build site" that I was aware Ford has.
