I have a 2017 F250 6.7 DPF and EGR Deleted with 5” Pro Flow, S&B Cold Air, and ez lynk tuner (GDP). After a month or so the trans started shifting really hard between 3rd and 4th. Anyone else having the same issue or know why?
Most likely its the trans slipping. In a previous truck I had it would slip from first to second gear and I put some of that seal swell stuff in it and it did do the trick for a bit but the slipping came back in the end
Is this when cold only or all the time it does this? Cold only, I recall a thread where they reset the trans table (reloaded?) to make it relearn. once in a while when cold mine has a hard lock for TC on 4th and 5th. Only time noticed is typically when I leave for work, get on main road and very light throttle, if there is traffic to get moving with, I don't notice it.
Definitely sounds like the tunes. I'd contact them right away, before it causes any expensive damage. Ford isn't going to warranty anything with aftermarket tunes controlling the tranny.
I’ve learned its called “Shift Defueling” and is common with some trucks with tuning. More prominent in trucks with over size tires. Has to do with the tranny not knowing how to deal with the added power so it cuts the fuel to the motor while shifting which is what causes the dead spot and then hard shift. I’ve looked it up and seems to be a common issue. The tuners are waiting for the firmware to be updated so they can make adjustments to the transmission to correct it. Fingers are crossed. Plan B by a bullet proof tranny and add more power )).
