Hey, just wondering with these tunes how hard are these truck shifting when you get on the skinny petal? I just test drove a 2006 F350 with 8 inch lift and tuned.
No I wasn't looking for a tune just asking about how hard it hits. And the short gear from 3rd to 4th it seems. The truck is tuned already and never have driven one tuned like such.
The 5RW100 is actually a 6 speed with the optional 4th gear btw.
Most tunes address the shift firmness to counteract the added power of the engine.
That's where some tune-on-the-fly programmers like Bully Dog etc can wreck havoc and destroy a trans in no time since they do not properly tune the engine along with the trans.

SCT has 3 can tunes and 1 custom he said. Was running the custom tune. Was a safe tune from what I could tell no smoke.
If you do purchase the truck, be sure the prior owner emails or gives you a copy of the custom tune off his PC. If you don't, then when you go to load custom tunes onto the SCT , you will lose the current custom tune that the truck came with.
My Edge CS increases Line Pressure to make the shift's more Firm to save the Trans but considering the Torqueshift has Firm shifts anyway, i felt it shifted wat too hard but thankfully you can adjust the Firmness & even Timing for each individual gear change. I softened mine up just a little bit so i didn't end up with whiplash
Sounds like you just programmed the truck and need to teach the transmission some engagements.
Sitting in a parking lot or your driveway with the parking brake on:
-Put the truck in drive
-Bump to neutral
-Wait 5 seconds, then put it in drive again.
Repeat this process 3-4 times pausing for 3-5 seconds in between.
Also repeat the same process going from
N to R
D to R
R to D
You'll notice as you do this that the engagements into and out of gear will get noticeably smoother.
From there you can speed the learning strategy along further by finding an open road and doing the following.
-3 normal throttle up shifts to 50-55 mph
-3 medium throttle up shifts to 50-55 mph
-3 wot up shifts to 60-70 mph
Mark Kovalsky can confirm this, but the times I've had to tune my 6.0 Excursion, this has helped the trans and engine learn much faster and adjust to me.
