SO I have been buying parts and saving up to do some van work this spring/summer. One of the things I am planning on is having some body work done and getting a paint job. Originally I was going to go all black, but now I am second guessing that. Debating between black, red or blue. Figured I would see what you guys like. Post what you like, or don't like, and why. For reference, here is the van. The interior is a mix of blue and black. The plan is to replace the blue carpet with black as well as changing out the door panels to a brushed diamond plate. There still would be small amounts of exposed blue on the inside of the doors:
Red would be something along these lines. Black accents....grill, rims etc
The blue I would go with is the same as my Taurus.
Or I could go all black. Originally I was thinking a Satin black or Gloss black with Satin accents....but now I may just go all gloss.
I'd vote against the all black; I personally think that with how big our vehicles are they really need two-tone paint jobs to keep the eyes interested, know what i mean?
As to tying in with the interior which you said was blue and black, I'd say that you should do a two-tone bright blue and dark grey on the outside.
Orrrr, you could go primary black, and have a nice blue 2nd tone where the lighter blue is currently on your van. And then, replace the blue pinstripes with another color like red.

Hope my rambling helps at all
Yeah. I would really like to see some in person. I kinda like the way the red one has the black around the bottom and black bumpers/grill. Red would look goofy with the little bit of blue that will remain on the inside. I am kinda wondering how it would look if I replaced the red with the blue from mu Taurus and kept the black around the bottom.

Also, you might want to consider a tan, white, light grey, or other light color for the top. It can reduce the solar heat gain by a lot.
I have been thinking about that, but I just haven't seen any lighter colored ones that really catch my eye. Makes me wonder if I could incorporate a lighter color on the roof some how to cut down on the heat?
No I haven't. The only thing I know about Pintrest is that it is where my wife goes to find all the "Fun and Easy" projects around the house that she likes me to do.......
I like the red van. Of course, I am biased. If you're worried about the blue interior items after changing to red couldn't you just go all black in the interior?

I have already painted 90% of the trim pieces black on the inside. I will be replacing the stock carpet with black indoor/outdoor carpet as well as wrapping the doghouse. The steps into the van are easy enough to paint black. The headliner will be black.
The areas of concern are the dash, the exposed painted metal on the doors and the fact that all the seat cloth is blue. Getting rid of all that might be a little more involved that I want to get......time and $$ wise.

If you want a two tone version of black. Do black with a charcoal metalic insert. That what mine was originally but some where in its life it got soild black. When I repainted it wanted to go back that way but could not find any non metallic charcoal. Since it was my first time shooting paint did nor want to deal with metalics. So I went with black with a Galaxy silver.
