coolant question
Im new to the world of diesels. Im going to change the coolant this weekend. I was exploring under the hood and noticed there wasnt a radiator cap. Do I put the coolant and additve into the overflow? And also what kind should I be using. Its a 1995 f350. thanks again..

Your owner's manual is very specific on the quantity, type and additives of the coolant.
It is very important to get it correct.
We use the green coolant/water mix in Pre-2001 trucks and the Ford additive.
I would also test the coolant with the coolant test strips.

I just did my '97 a month ago. It's not really an overflow like a normal car where the coolant is sucked out of the tank when the car cools and fills as it heats up. Think of it as an expansion tank as it has a large hose off the bottom of the tank which attaches to the bottom of the radiator. My advice is to drain completely including the block drains and then fill VERY slowly to try and prevent any air from being trapped in the block. Also, don't forget you additive and don't use the extended life stuff.

coolant question
About extended life coolant---I saw some ROTELLA ELC really cheap...anyhow NAVISTAR was on the back of the bottle as one of the suitable engines. No model years..just various powerplants. Correct me if I'm wrong, but NAVISTAR is International? Would the ELC be bad for a 1999 PSD?
