As some of you recall I had a Motorcraft filter come apart on me in the Ex. Never heard back from Ford either. I've been dumping the oil regularly and it's black as the ace of spades. The filter looks clean which has thrown me for a loop. I wonder if anything might be stuck and holding it in bypass mode. I'd hate to have to pull the housing for the cooler to find out. What do ya think?

Yep I thought the same.I just got a bad feeling about this that I'm gonna have to take a bunch of stuff apart in the cold.......did I mention I hat e the cold?
pull the filter, the standpipe, the oil cooler bypass/inlet oil cover, the oil drain, all can be done with just the filter out of the way, that way you have covered everything in the can at one time, ck the standpipe bypass and spring assembly. That bad filter has caused you nightmares no doubt.
