2X. Or recently Garret bought another brand that does the same bearing work and costs a bit less. I think it is "Blue Box" ?

Thanks for the comments. The company that wanted $900.00 for either of their 2 boxes in inventory was Redhead Steering in Seattle. I found that out a couple of days ago when I suggested that the automotive clinic contact them. The clinic tried to salvage the existing box with seals, etc., but was unsatisfied with the result. They found a company, however, that would do the job for about $400.00, and sent the box off for rebuilding. We expect it to take 10 days or so. The starting/running problem is resolved: new carburetor with electric choke (my request), fuel filter, new plugs and wires. I'm told the truck is running beautifully, apart from the steering issue. When I get the truck back, I'll post how it is running.

Hi was wondering if you could give me the Brand and part number of the Carb which you used and who carries it? Thanks much, k

Kurttb1,
When I get the truck back, I'll get the information. Evidently, there is a holdup with the vendor/repair company, which is a few states away from Washington State, where I am. According to the local clinic, the truck is running well with the carburetor upgrade. When I get it back, I'll give you the brand, part #, and vendor.

K, it may be a little while before I get the truck back. The power steering box is in Pennsylvania; the shop is not responding to calls, Re: progress on the rebuild.

I was talking to a guy who had his f100 steering box rebuilt by a Co. name Straight Line steering in San Jose ca.
He said he paid a few hundred bucks..
He had not installed the box yet just throwing that out here..
May be good may be no better the auto zone do not know..

Thanks, orich. I'll have to wait and see what's going on in Pennsylvania. According to the local auto shop, the guy in Pennsylvania was the only one not charging outrageous prices for the service. All others were between $850 and $1,000. By contrast, the guy in San Jose sounds good. There are many joys to owning one of these beautiful old trucks; unfortunately, however, there can be a few setbacks--one of them being finding reliable parts for 50-year-old vehicles.

Kurttb1, It is a Holley A 500 CFM, reference no. 080500. According to the mechanic, it is the best 2-bbl carb for the truck: 68 Ford F250. The truck is running beautifully. I do not miss the manual choke.
