Hello. Thanks for all the great info and I have a question froma F150 newbie on my 2017 2.7 EB XLT with 302A Package. It has the Class IVhitch and the 4 pin and seven pin plugs but not the controller. I know I do nothave the max tow package but could have sworn in the buying process I saw somethingabout a towing package (maybe I saw about the tow setting on the 6-speedtransmission) but I don’t see anything in my paperwork about a tow package. Myquestion is, assuming I do not have any type of towing package, can I still getthe OEM In-Dash Trailer Brake Controller Module and follow the onlineinstructions and videos and plug it in withno other wiring or anything else required (other than the flashing by a dealer)? Thanks a lot for the help. Raleigh Sanford.
The OEM,I.B.C ( intragrated brake controller) is plug and play But the Dealer has to enable it in Forscan you can save money by installing it yourself but for what its worth just let the Dealer do the install if anything goes wrong they are responsible!!!!
Thanks for the replies but my question was whether, with my current setup, all I have to do is plug and play and flash with all the wiring already in place even thought I did not have one of the tow packages to my knowledge.

Yes, it is plug & play. But it will need to be programed in the Body Control Module for it to work. This can be done with "Forescan" or your dealer can do it. If your truck has a class IV hitch and the 7 pin connector you do have the standard tow package. At least this was the case with my 2016.
Perfect. I think I will get a dealer to do it if I can find one with a good price. There are plenty in the area. Your pig saying is one of my favorites along with the old "putting lipstick on a pig" one. Thanks.
Hello. One further followup. As far as the flashing, everyone says a dealer has to do it or you can do it yourself. If you can do it yourself, can you just get your local mechanic to do it. Thanks. Raleigh.
Probably not a local mechanic unless he has the Forscan app. It's worth the free download and the $60ish for the Bluetooth adapter to do it the Forscan way. You can do so many other things with Forscan that you probably haven't noticed annoy you yet - but you will once you read up on it.
Thanks. Makes sense. Can anyone tell me exactly what blue tooth adapter I need or provide a link to it. It does seem a good idea to have that capability.

This is the one we got. I don't remember what I paid for it; I think it was around $50.
