Engine swap
I have an 86 with a 300 and 4 speed. I'm thinking I could bolt a 390 in with a different bellhousing.
Only way would be someone like you that gave it a try.
There was a post in here about the different perches used between all the different motors factory installed on our years trucks. Do a search to find it and give a read so you know what came in them and if you find the six perches don't work maybe a combination of others will?
BTW do you know if the six/FE perches in the 73-79 trucks work with a 460 motor?
Then again maybe not something about L&L makes something for your trucks right?
I ask because 460s did come in out trucks.

Set one: 240, 300, 352, 360, 390, etc
Set two: 289, 302, 351W, 351C, 351M, and 400.
Set 3: 429 and 460.
Set one are a typical engine perch with one side being almost twice as big as the other.
Set 2 are a typical set with both sides almost the same height.
Set 3 is completely different and they look like a GM engine perch.
So in answer to your question, nothing sits on a 385 perch except a 385.
No 360/390's after 1976. No 460's in F100's after 1976, no 460's in F150's after 1979, no 460's in 1980/82 F250/350's, E250/350's only.
All 1968/82 460's came with the C6. 1983 was the first year that 460's were available w/a M/T & 4WD

He was wondering if any one has done the 390 in 80-86 trucks and if so was it done with Ford parts not made for that swap book wise but just happens to work.
Like say a left perch for say a 300 and the right side from a 460 to drop in a 390 motor.
You never know till you ask.
Dave ----
We have had a couple of guys on here adapt a FE in a 80-up truck, but it was fabrication the whole way. I don't remember anyone using 300 six motor mounts and dropping the FE in after that.
