Classic warn winch bumper

I have been looking into getting a winch bumper for my 74’ Ford F-250 but don’t want one of those new looking aftermarket ones. I think The old classic warn bumpers look the best but I can’t find any for sale. Does anyone have any ideas how I could find one to purchase? I’ve looked on Craigslist and eBay. Thanks

If you are real lucky you might find one off Craigslist. REAL lucky.

If not, its time to talk to a local welding shop. earthquake68 https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/member.php?u=586926 made this one.

Thanks. I have thought about welding my own so that will defiantly be an option if I can’t find one. Thanks for the pictures and measurements.

I also did a lot of nationwide searching for these old bumpers. We had them on several trucks in the 70's. My dad actually saved two of them from dentsides he traded in, but they somehow disappeared along with the two Warn 8274's I was saving to rebuild when I retired from the Army. I knew I could build a better bumper but the list of things I can build is pretty big and I as I get older I prefer to just buy things. But I finally decided to build one. Pretty simple project as long as you don't have to have a moon rover bumper, or one with a whale harpooning cage around it.

Cool. I took fairly detailed photos of the build. If you need them let me know.

I could try to build one myself but would you know how much that build you’ve mentioned would cost to have made by a shop?

I don't really know for sure, but I think an honest shop would charge less than $600. Me and my good friend spent a day making it, and we're both mental midgets. A good fab guy could probably make it by himself in 4 hours.

Alan sold them for $350 and there was not a lot of profit at that price.

I would suggest that you print off the pic with the measurements and take them to a welding/fab shop and just ask.

1st pic shows that the bumper has lids for tool/chain boxes....

[QUOTE=77&79F250;17647988]Alan sold them for $350 and there was not a lot of profit at that price.

To recap what 77&79F250 said!!!!!! And I will word it differently. $350 is a bargain! I say there is basically little to no profit.

Here is a picture of the front bumper I made my truck this summer. Steel material alone cost me just over $200 and my work has an account at a steel warehouse. So I got the material at cost.

Now if you we're going to say make 50-100 of them at a time. You would be buying more steel in a larger qty. So you should see a price reduction on material.

Good local fab shops around here (not someone doing welding on the side for a 12pk) for welding are charging $105 per hour.

Now figure in some fab time as far as cutting and shaping of the parts.....$350 is a bargain!

My bumper isn't a winch set up. That is the next go around!

IMO make a front and rear bumper, and rock sliders (if needed) that are capable to take the same winch with a slide in receiver hit mount design.

I say again a very sturdy built receiver hitch winch mount!! Mine mounts in the Bronco with TWO pins.

And I can put it on the front of my trailer to tow other things on it (like dead chebbies), AND the back of any one of my other trucks receiver hitch. AND I can put it on ANYONE'S else truck receiver hitch.

My power cables are long enough for the winch to go to any position on my Bronco. And I have QD's cable ends with jumper cable style other ends to go anyone's else battery.

I have since remodded the trailer mount and use the same receiver tube mount design. And have cut off the tip that use to drop in the trailer.

And I have also since de-pinked the faded red Bronco back to RED. lol

All this is to show that you do not have to make a big ol front bumper that will hold a winch in just one spot and give you only one application direction. Unless you have a few ****** blocks you have one application direction.

Receiver tube on the front can be used to hold a license plate, remove when you need to winch out chebbie off wet grass.
