Inside Back Up Senor Replacement?

Hello everyone, using the tech folder I was able to troubleshoot my back up sensor issue and was able to identify the faulty senor. It is one of the inside sensors. After getting under the rear bumper to investigate, it seems my tow hitch is hindering access to the sensor. I can touch it but don't have much room to pull the clips in order to remove it. Anyone have a suggestion on doing this? I assume I could remove the hitch which I would rather not do, removing the rear bumper seems like it might be easier than the hitch or I could be wrong. Any suggestions?

Thanks
Elliott

Elliott, there are tabs on either side of the sensor. They are very flimsy and weak. Pull each of them back away from the sensor, and then push the sensor in from the outside of the bumper. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy.

Yeah the thing is I don't have room, I can squeeze my hand in there and barely touch it, but not much else. I will try again to see if I can get to the tabs some how, but couldn't on my first try. I read in one of the threads about replacing these that someone had a tow package that was in the way as well and that they could not reach it so I wondered if someone had any other ideas. Anyhow, thanks for the response! By the way did you enjoy the quick snow storm last night? It was pretty cool!

Ahh good idea! See that’s why I like this forum! I did have a buddy with a smaller hand that was able to reach it too. I guess my hand and arm are too fat. Lol
