I have a 2012 F150 fx2 ecoboost supercab. The sunroof wouldn't open so I tried to open the moon roof which opened but after that I couldn't get it closed. I looked at the track and found a black plastic piece that looks like it broke off the track. Took it to the dealership, they say it needs the rail assembly replaced and it's super expensive. I looked online quite a bit and it seems as the track assembly broke not the rail assembly. Major difference on the price to fix. Any way they misdiagnosed or trying to screw me on costs? Thoughts?

 

Get a second opinion. My neighbor's 2010 has had thousands of dollars worth of work done to his sun roof due to leaking, rail assy, etc.

 

The parts are not that expensive, you can get them off of Ebay for $110 for aftermarket it is the labor of taking the whole truck apart and putting it back together again.
