VIN decoder? And LSD or not?
I'm looking for an '87-96 2wd truck.
What do you read off the VIN to tell if it's a 351?
And is there any code on the door jamb (like H9) to tell if it has the LSD and deep gears? Any telltale signs on the rearend? And no, I'm not gonna try running off when the person isn't looking and brake-torque it to find out for sure

I am sure there is a number in the vin that corresponds to engine size. I don't know what it is though.
Do a search on here for "axle code h9". If that is the code off the door jamb under "Axle". Click the "and older" box towards the bottom. You should find a chart relatively soon with the information you are looking for.
On edit, H9 is 3.55 limited slip rear end 3800# capacity.

So your looking for a truck with LSD in it eh? I think you'll be a little hard pressed to find that. Check the border patrol haha just kidding. You can do a Google search under 'vin decoder" and you'll get websites that you can type in your VIN and find out some information.

The diff is not coded in the VIN. You need to read the ID sticker on the door. Engine size is coded in the VIN, it's the 8th position. "H" is a 351 as in:
