89 5.8 running rough
A friend has a '89 5.8 that gets seldom use & says it now barely runs. I am new to this generation truck & FI.
other than a fuel filter & good gas, any recommendations if it doesn't help?
I will also look at cap & rotor etc...
I did a cursory search & didn't really see anything on this

Check for codes first. CEL or not, there could be stored codes that provide insight.
Check fuel pressure. ~40psi with no vacuum to regulator at idle, 32psi or so with vacuum. It needs to increase under load and not fall.
When was the last tune up? Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, filters.
Any vacuum leaks? What intake manifold vacuum does it pull at idle?
