trans swap
Picked up 65 f100, custom, long bed for parts. Could not do it. now have 2 projects. Had the 390 rebuilt. Now dealing with the 3 speed w/ overdrive. Glanced at shop manual which gives basic steps to try and determine the problem. Question, if the 3 speed need to be repaired, should i consider swapping for automatic. Other than convenience, does one transmission, i assume w/ the 390 it would be the C6, have better features than the other. Is it a difficult swap, and what year(s) tranny to look for. I have basic machanic skills. Lastly, not familiar wth what engines, trans, and rearends match w/ the other. If anyone has resource, perhap book or magizine they can refer.
