no start after rebuild???
i just got my engine back in the truck after rebuilding it and it wont start. it will fire but wont start. i have had the distributer in every way imaginable and i took the front cover off to make sure i had the timing marks lined up and everything is good. is there anything that could be causing this like manifold leak or vacume leak??. here is what i did to the engine
bored .30
new pistons
mild head port
new cam (crane p/n 443901)
and took the air pump junk off
any ideas would be appreciated

Fuel pressure? DId you check the valve using a nail punch? it looks like a tire valve. You should get a bit of fuel out of it.
Recheck all electrical connections.
Take number 1 cly. to top dead center compression stroke. Check your distributor that its firing correctly synced. with the crank and TDC.
Get a code reader and see if there are any faults. $24.95 at Wally World.

What's your valvetrain consist of?
I just converted to adjustable valvetrain and when I adjusted the valves the lifters were apparently bled down from sitting so long. This caused the valves to be adjusted way too tight leaving the valves open and not creating enough compression to start it. I verified this with a compression check. Only checked two cylinders, one was at 85psi the other at 0. I had 120psi across the board just before the change (literally).
If I were you I would look into this as a possibility.

Ok, I am confused, reread the post. You said its getting fire and fuel, if your distributor is not out of time, the vavles are adjusted right, there is nothing to stop it from running.
Check your firing order for year and engine. Check the distributor guttttts. Coil. and ECM.
Other than that maybe its the fuel pump. My Dads 87, would not start turned out the fuel pumps and a clogged fliter. were the culprits.
Get your HAYNES BOOK out and double check.

it will backfire thru the TB like it out of time but its not. unless the balancer i got from the wreckers has the timing marks in the wrong spots even tho its from a EFI 351
