That piece isn't installed. It comes on the Ip cowl grill and when the Windshield is installed it rolls it up. It's too thick for the lack of stickyness. It's actually for wind noise.

If its for wind noise, then that means water can seep in too. It more likely is to fill the unsightly gap and to prevent items from getting stuck in the gap (pens, coins, etc.).
My truck has 4,000 miles on it. The foam is coming out in 2 spots. It's a new truck. I want it fixed, but I am concerned that they have to take the windshield out and dealer wont do as good as factory.
I took a thin wooden dowel and pushed it down into place. That was about 6 weeks ago. So far it has stayed in place.
On my 17, same issue but more at the ends. I did the same as mentioned above and just took my time. I was able to get the ends pushed down without them looking worse. Just be patient if trying to work it back in.
just had my dealer replace mine as it was about 1.5 inches short and I paid a lot of money for my new 2018 truck, they charged back to ford 185 in labor to remove and replace this 50 cent piece! Hey ford, cut the foam a bit longer!
Mine is twisted 90 degrees at the driver side edge, and I am always looking at it. Drives me nuts if I think about it. Thanks!
Mine was also. I ended up using a small screwdriver to pull that end out and I used a larger flat head screwdriver to push it back in the way it should have been. No issues a couple thousand miles later.
