A leaking area generally has a freshly wet clean area where it's been leaking from, just like the rear passenger side rear center gasket intake manifold.
You can’t do the rear main where you’re at without pulling the engine. You can put your tranny in and do it though. It’ll suck, but I’ve done it AND successfully I might add.
If it were mine, I'd clean everything up real well and put it back together. Then keep an eye on it for source(s) of leak. Rear main, valve covers and intake leaks can all be fixed with engine installed.

It'll have to hold off until I'm ready to rebuild the engine. I have thoughts trying to get it as clean as I can then try sealing the outside of the back of the manifold

Teach, I don't think you need to put the transmission in to crack the main caps and pry thew crank down to replace the seal.
