Hello all!
I have a late 1949 F3 I need some help with. It is basically a restoration with a few mods to make it drive on the highway. Dana 60, T5, rebuilt 239 flathead v8. Stock 6v Pos. Grd. electrical, pertronix 6v PG electronic ignition and coil.
That being said, I am having trouble starting the darn thing. I'm unsure whether I have it all hooked up correctly. Pertronix says to hook up the wire from the distributor to the negative side of the coil and to ground out the positive side to the bracket, battery or engine. So I did this. Originally i think I saw that the positive side was connected to the distributor wire when I had points.
Which is the correct way?
I have cleaned and grounded the battery to the engine, engine to the firewall, and firewall to the frame. I think this is correct and will complete the circuit, correct?
Hey 2Tailed search for 1949 f-3 engine wire diagram and you will come up with a lot of info. I had to do that when I was wiring up an alternator and solenoid you can look at the one you want then print it out. I am not good at wiring so I need all the diagrams that I can get. Good luck. I am getting ready to put in a complete new harness so let me know how yours goes.
