I am new to the forum and was wondering if there was anybody who could decode the VIN on my 1973 c600 for me?
C61 = C600 (gas).
B = 300 Heavy Duty 1V I-6.
V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.
R36502 = 1973.
175" Wheelbase.
COLOR: Blank.*
C616 = C600 (gas); 20,200 lbs. GVWR
4A8: 4A = Black H/D Vinyl / 8 = 91A Standard Cab w/o Sleeping Compartment.
A = New Process 435 4 Speed Manual Transmission.
F2L:
F2 = Eaton model 15201 Two Speed Rear Axle / 5.83/8.12 / 15,000 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.
L = Ford 6,000 lbs. Capacity Front Axle with Power Steering.
20,200 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
740783:
74 = Seattle WA Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.
0783 = Domestic Special Order number, truck ordered special by the original purchaser, not "bought off the lot."
*When these is no COLOR code stamped on the Warranty Plate, the truck is painted a non standard color per the original purchasers request, making it a Domestic Special Order.

AFAIK: No one repro's parts for C series trucks.
All the cab sheet metal, weatherstrips, grille and bumper are unique to 1957/86 C/CT series as is the cab tilting mechanism.
Some of the mechanical parts are shared with F series, but the front suspension is not.
Aftermarket suppliers took the original painted steel grilles and bumpers, then chromed them.
There are some NOS parts available, but no one has the weatherstrips.
