I need some help from the smart gurus here, here is a short back story of what I am planing to do, which is a front end conversion for my E99 truck.
I currently have the E99 set up, and the head lamps are dull, the left turnsignal houseing is missing so the need to replace the missing parts is there...I just purchased a set of the 2007 HD lights, and also a Ranch Hand bumper for the e99 truck, so here is where my concern comes into play. I am wanting to grab the header panel off a 2007 F series truck (comes with grille for about $180 for both) if I put the 2007 header panel on with the headlamps, will I still have use of my ranch hand bumper if I retain the '00 Excusion grill?? or have I Royally pooched my self by grabbing the incorrect bumper?? as I really don't want to have to pay a restocking fee if I got the incorrect bumper by mistake (at the location I was at we only had generic pictures to work with) so if anyone might be able to help me figure this out that would be wounderful!
so the simple question is what are the differences between the E99 and 2007 header panels?? and will my E99 grille/00 excursion grill still fit with out any issues??? (size wise?)
I hope this makes sense to you guys, if not please let me know and I will work to make the clarification better
so here is a list of parts that I am gathering to hopefully make sense of it all...
2007 Head lights (housings)
E99 Ranch hand ledgend bumper (with winch mounting options) and fog lamp ratainment
2000 Excursion grille in black
2007 header panel (includes 2005 - 2007 F series/excursion grille in black)
To my knowledge the grill and bumper have to be the same year or you have to modify the grill to fit the bumper or live with a big gap between the bumper and grille. The headlights and header panel have to be the same year, or you have to modify the old header panel to fit the newer style lights. I believe the grill mounts the same, but im not 100% sure on that.
So in short, you can either re-use your existing grill as your bumper is the e99 style and just swap the lights to the 05-07 style. May have to modify the old header panel or swap for a newer one, the wiring to the new lights will need an adapter. If you want to use the 05-07 grille you will either need to shave the bottom of the grille or just buy one of the conversion grills pre-modified on that auction site.
Ok so for my intentions using the 2007 header panel with the 2000 excursion grill is going to work and let me use the bumper I ordered? If that is correct then I’m happy, I can either resell the grill that comes with it or put it up for a fellow brother in need.
I have never investigated the header panels, but from what I have read that should work. I'm sure somebody will chime in soon that has done the front end swap.
