Sync 3 update issue

For the last 3 hours it's been updating from the usb stick. On the website it says it should take 30 min. Id like to be able to turn my truck off sometime today. What's the deal? Has this happened to anyone else?

If it still hasn`t updated, i`d say just start over.

Sometimes and with some people doing the update, it just takes awhile longer than what`s listed on the website and believe it or not, it could just take a few days.

For whats it`s worth, there have been some people who have updated via OTA so it looks like Ford/SYNC has released the OTA update sooner than last time so perhaps you can try this was instead of the USB.

Also, don`t try to report back to Ford/SYNC after the update using USB because that`ll only cause you more frustration plus it doesn`t work.. The system will report back to Ford/SYNC via WiFi after the update so just make sure you have auto updates turned on and have WiFi access.

Let us know how it works for you.

It took a little over 4 hours to update. Wifi is touch and go in the driveway so that's why I used usb. By the time I got the flash drive inside to "report " the truck had managed to report over wifi. I guess I should just be glad I can do this at home and don't have to go to the dealer.

Wondering which way is the quickest? USB stick or a good, solid wifi connection?

Never did get WIFI to work well. Last update via USB took about 10 minutes.

USB is the quickest way if you do the download properly. It only took my vehicle 25-30 minutes to update but some people have stated that their update only took about 10 minutes or so. I have NAV so perhaps that`s why mine took a little longer.

Right now, some people have had luck doing the update via OTA but It can be hit or miss.

Regardless of how you do it, be prepared for it taking much longer to update.

Some people have said it has taken at least 4 hours or even a day or two so don`t get discouraged.

After you`ve updated your vehicle, don`t try to report back to Ford/SYNC online using your USB even though that`s what the instructions on the Ford Owner website says. The system will update OTA as long as you have automatic updates on and you are in a WiFi area.

Hope this helps you out and let us know how it went for you.

Got a USB stick and did the upgrade, took only about 20 minutes. Not worried about the reporting back to Ford/SYNC as I have it set up for OTA and linked to my home wifi. It'll do it when it feels like it...

Was sitting in the truck reading this thread after my update kicked off. Got a little worried on the reports of 4 hours, but only took 25 minutes to complete.
