2015+ fuel pump

I've got a buddy that picked up a 2012 with a blown motor. Got a steal on it for $5k with a little over 100k miles. Anyways, he is spending the money and doing the work and putting in a new motor. He is ordering the new engine and plans to switch all the components off the old motor and I got to thinking about his truck. I know the 2015s+ have an updated fuel pump with stainless internals. As I was thinking about that, I don't really recall seeing any 2015+ having water issues like the pre-2015 from watching this page. Has anyone seen water in fuel issues in the 2015+ trucks or did the stainless internals really solve this issue? I'm wondering if it'd be worth it to my buddy to put in a newer HPFP to avoid having potential water issues. Since he has the truick stripped anyways, now would be the time. What thoughts does everyone have on this?

2015+ pumps are still very susceptible to damage from water. It would be worth it though to put a 2015+ pump on it. Especially if he plans to tune eventually. Also look into a 2015+ charger.

If buying a new pump anyway, I’d update it, if the pump there still works, that is a tough call. Would a fass or similar fuel system be better? Thinking water separation

The one off the old motor works, so he is going to use that. I was just thinking about the newer pumps and the fact that I haven't seen many (or any) posts on the 2015+ trucks having fuel issues. Just wondering if they are that much better to warrant a whole new updated pump.

That said, I totally agree on the water separation. I'd protect that pump at all cost as it costs so much to re do it.
