Just a heads up to you guys and gals. Check under your trucks for any missing primer/undercoating. Mine has 2 spots at front of bed and rear of cab where the primer came off and is showing bare metal. Almost like they set it down while wet then picked it up and it came off. Also have any of you had luck loosening bed to align it up with cab? The ford body guy says they have seen a lot of them with alignment issues and have actually moved cab instead of bed due to bed having very little wiggle room. Not sure if I want them to do the cab or not. Tempted to just leave well enough alone with the alignment.
I have the same cab alignment problem on mine. Ive had it for about 3-4 weeks but I just noticed a few days ago that the cab sits out further on the drivers side. I took some measurments and it looks to be about a half inch to the left in the rear. Bed measures out correctly. I may take it in next week. Id lve to know if anyone has fixed this themselves.
Mine is like this also. Service said it was within spec. Gonna try a different dealer.
Ill get some pics of mine tomorrow and post up. If that is what they consider “within spec” then there must not be any spec. Im a steel fabricator so I notice things out of square or line whether I want to or not lol. My cab being offset drives me crazy. Ive owned several SD’s and never had this issue.
Mine is sitting flush with bed on passenger side and cab sticks out about 3/8" proud on drivers side. The ford body shop service writer said he has seen a lot worse. Said they would get it straightened up no problem when they repair the primer issue on bottom of truck. Just waiting on warranty approval of work from Ford. They had to submit pics of bare sheet metal.
I do not. I was going to take some but haven't had a chance yet. The bare metal spots are located on bottom of cab at rear support beam and first support beam on bed closest to cab. Dead center of truck.
My primer is fixed on mine. It does not appear they did much with alignment of bed and cab. I honestly didn't want them to create any rattles by aligning things and honestly I don't really notice the alignment issue. Maybe after the new wears off a bit I'll push the issue. The body guy said that there is not much movement to the bed as they bolt right to frame. He said its the cabs that are the issue.
Just got my truck bed primer repaired today. It was less than 30 minutes for the body shop to sand and respray the rubbed spots.
Thanks for the heads up. I found it before I took delivery and also took pictures.
I just found a few spots on my 2018. Did anybody have any problems dealing with Ford on this?
Not at all. There is no reason they should bawk. The dealer I bought from has a separate body shop from regular service. I took it in. They took pics and said okay we will send the pics in to Ford. A couple hours later it was approved and scheduled my appt.
