Distributer pick up

Distributer pick up
I have an 1982 Ford Econoline V6 300.
Can anyone help me out on how to get the pick up for the distributer off.
Does the plate underneath have to be pulled off to remove the center pin coming up through the pick up itself?
Any advice would really help me out.
