I'm going in a different direction than what everyone posts here.
1) You are obviously interested in the truck, otherwise you wouldn't be here. So the price isn't scaring you away. And this truck may sell for $75,000, $100,000, $125,000 at public auction like Barrett Jackson.
2) If you like it, you have the money, feel good about the purchase...and when you drive it for the first time as YOURS and you can't stop grinning, you made a good purchase.
3) You will TURN HEADS when you drive this thing. The truck is rare and in this color scheme may be one of a kind. You'll get loads of attention - good and bad (as you can see).4
4) This truck is 70 years old. It is no longer in production. If you don't buy it, and you wanted to, you may never get the chance again.
There is no chance of a truck with this little attention to detail being accepted into Barrett Jackson . I don't think anyone has suggested he not buy it , just that by the pics provided and the apparent lack of detail there are better built ones for that money . That being said at first glance it does look good if after driving and carefully looking at suspension install , bodywork etc . you can get it for a reasonable price it is a great start with a lot of details to work on . There are many here would feel that a truck needing 0 bodywork-paint would already be worth a good portion of the asking price . My concern would be suspension install - underlying bodywork , if not done properly is far worse than starting from scratch . JMHO
Just out of curiousity, I went on ebay and looked for 48-52 F1 trucks. Found quite a few completely restored down to the smallest detail for that price or less. Even the ones converted to a chevy motor had completely rebuilt drivetrains.
Proves my point. Much nicer trucks out there for far less money.
Agree. Looked at the trucks in all three links, and the one in Phoenix is nowhere near in the same class. Read the write-up on the three B-J trucks and noted that those examples came with documentation. Everything about them looked to be quality. Highest priced one was just a tad over $20K.
Only flaw I seen was in the second truck. In the photo of the interior you can see that there is no insulation under the floor mat. Originally on these trucks, there was an insulating pad under the mat. Stuff looked like a fine excelsior. Took it out of Gertie when I replaced my mat the first time in 1989 as it had gotten wet and was nasty as hell.
Here is the ad for the truck, for those that are interested
Thanks for finding the ad. I noticed there's no telephone number to contact the seller. Just one of those craigslist email links. Yet another big red flag in my opinion.

To be fair, using the CL email link isn't by itself an issue. Some folks just don't want their phone number on the interwebs. There are enough other issues at play here.
Does craigslist encode their emails ? KIJIJI runs them though a system that lets you communicate as much as you want but is no good once the ad is taken down .

Yes, Craigslist encodes their emails. No one can see your real email address unless you give it to them. For most ads, you can't see either the sellers true email and the seller can't see the potential buyers true email.

I would agree that there are nicer trucks for less money but be careful as those auctions are quite old except for the third one which is from 2016. The other two are 2010 and 2012. Prices I'm sure have increased since then.
