Replace converter ?

Hello everyone !
I'm in the middle of switching motors in my 87 f-350 dually, and I noticed that the torque converter seal needs to be replaced. There is nothing wrong with the torque converter [that I'm aware of]. Should I consider replacing it with 165000 miles on it ? And if so....Where could I get a stock replacement, instead of what is being hyped on the internet. BTW, it's a C-6
All advise is appreciated.

Depends on how the fluid looks; clean or full of glitter? If it shifts fine, fluid is good and you're just going in for seals and not rebuilding/replacing the whole transmission, I'd say just run it. Should only take a couple of minutes to replace the seal and re-seat the TC.

Thanks for the input. I haven't got any idea about the life expectancy of a torque converter in one of these trucks. I dropped the pan to change the screen about 2000 miles ago, and did not see any metal at all. It works just fine. I just wanted to take advantage of the fact that it will be out and in my hands, and it would be a real bummer to put the whole thing back together and have the converter fail in the next few thousand miles. It seems very difficult to find a stock converter online. Does anyone have any experience finding an OEM converter ?
