Vac pump

Hi, when the vac pump starts to fail, will it make a squeaking like a failing water pump?? I have a squeaking going on and i pulled the belt and checked the pulleys, water pump, alternator and PSPump. All seems good. No leaking coolant.

My first one made a racket when it failed. The current one needs replacing due to low vacuum at start up and it is not making any noise.

If its got more than 125k miles on it, replace it. You don't want to find out the hard way. Its a cheap simple fix too, when it goes, you lose power steering, brakes, alternator, water pump, etc., and with a trailer in tow, it gets ugly real fast. If you plan on keeping the truck for a while yet, then replace the idler pulleys/bearings and a new serp. belt. Typically a water pump will not squeak, (enough to hear it at least)
