Water pump replacment
I got a 2004 f150 heritage with the 4.2
It's at a little over 250,000 miles with slot of original parts
Recently it started making a horrible squealing sound and me and a friend hunting for the problem
We've replaced the belt tensioner, lower idler pulley, the power steering pump and my alternator because it had a squeaking when we spun it.
The Ac compressor is good,no squeaks there, and the other idler pulley is good with no play
Only things that are left is the harmonic balancer and water pump
Both have no play in them but one of them must be the culprit.
The squeal comes and goes,It will be fine one minute then all the sudden squeal that is very high pitched and horrible sounding,Like metal grinding metal.
Can a bad water pump do this? And is it the bearings or the fan blades in the pump?
And if this is it how hard is it to change on this veichle and is there anything else that should be change while it's off?
Pulley's are cheap. At 250k just replace it.
The water pump is a typical pump changeout. No tricks, straightforward swap a roo. Nothing else needs to be done while your in there assuming the belt itself is in good shape.

Yeah it checks to be good
And I changed the belt as well
So I'm assuming it's the water pump
