When you bought your truck.........
What was your plan for how long you would own it?
My intentions since the day I bought my truck was to have it until it started becoming a money pit or 150,000 miles, which ever comes first.
I'm Approaching 79,000 blissful miles on this truck with the first gen job 1 ecoboost and it's been paid in full for a while now.
Still riding factory brakes, no leaks,, squeaks, rattles or grinding.
To date I've replaced the blend door, battery, #2 coil and plugs / boots.
Mods: Peragon bed cover, rear wheel well liners and Husky floor liners.

My intention was and still is to keep it forever, that may not be possible but as long as it is it'll be in the driveway. I typically don't sell anything when I get something new but rather just add to the collection. I'm still young so a lot of this is subject to life changes that nobody can foresee in the future.
I'm at 54k miles now and every mile is a smile! I've replaced the blower motor, blower motor resistor and multi function switch in the last 3 1/2 years and 32,000 miles.
I still have my first truck bought at age 13 with my own money, even though it's totaled I can't bring myself to have it leave my life. Vehicles for me become a huge emotional attachment and letting go is not easy if I purchase them planing to keep them.
I just bought back my dads old '97 Explorer from the person we sold it to 9 years ago with the plan to restore it. All because I have so many great memories in that truck...I know I'm weird!

It all depends. Some vehicles I've kept for a short time..alot of them. I had the one Chevy 4 wheel drive it was a 3/4 ton, and a 4 speed.for 21 years. Most of my trucks I didn't keep very long. Now the 2013 that I have now, it's kind of rare being a 6.2 F150... plan to keep it... a long time.

My first pickup was a new 1974 F100, kept it for 22 years. My second pickup was a new 1997 F150, kept it for 20 years.
2 trucks, 42 years, each my primary vehicle. Anybody beat that. Each had over 200k miles.
My current is a 2012 F150, bought it used last year to replaced the 97. It had 61k miles. Maybe I'll get 15-16 years out of it, if I live that long.
Edit, one other note, during the 42 years with the first 2 trucks. Only 3 trips total to the shop for stuff I couldn't do, and 1 of those trips was a recall. And 1 of the other 2 trips was misdiagnosed and wasn't needed.

Bought my '01 used with 31k on it. Drive it daily for 14 years until it was replaced in March of this year with the '10. I would have kept the old one a bit longer but rust took it toll and it was needing $3500 in repairs to pass inspection. Plans are to keep the current one until it rots out or becomes a money pit.

It had six miles on it when I took delivery in May of 2013. My intention is to keep mine for at least 10 years. It will be paid off this May and only has 48,000 miles thus far. The only trouble thus far has been a clutch pack in the limited-slip differential (which was covered under warranty) and the volume button on the steering wheel malfunctions sometimes (which was also replaced under warranty, but the new one is failing now). Other than that, it's a stellar vehicle.

Tim,
Congratulations on the excellent reliability your truck is providing
Honestly, I didn't make any specific plans for keeping this F150, other than I figured I'd have to keep it for a good amount of years. As long as she doesn't do anything stupid, I suppose I'll keep her until we can shell out the money for a new truck. I don't drive it often, as I have a take-home car from work & the fact that she's paid for makes me feel good.

I planned on having it another 10 years but the wife and a kid in college 400 miles away finally changed that. I’m now the proud owner of an Escape that is 400 miles from me, and a rough 1984 Chevy shortbed 4x4 soon to be my plow truck/firewood hauler ( the price was right ) Some day I’ll have another one she says... At least I sold it to my brother so it went to a good home

I bought my truck this past March with 72,000 miles on it because my wife and I started the Dave Ramsey plan and the 17 f250 was too much debt. I plan on keeping this thing until it dies. 80,000 miles right now so I figure at least 8-10 more years. This will be paid off in another month and then I will enjoy that extra money in my pocket each month for a long time!
