fuel sending unit

Was going to see if anyone could help with a fuel sender problem on my 54 truck. I put a new stock as tank on and bought a sending unit for it but it would not work and I found out it was not the one I needed with my original gauge. I order the correct one to work with guage filled tank up half way but when i turn key on it does not move one bit. My truck has been converted to 12 volts and I have a reducer installed and have grounds installed on frame to sending unit. The gauge is good as I have grounded it an it travels all the way to full. I don't have a ohm reader but turned the ignition on and put a test light on an it came on but was not real bright. I would appreciate any in put.

I think you will need a multimeter to properly test. Are you sure the body is grounded to the frame as well?

The following is the FoMoCo replacement for the original 6V sending unit for: 1948/52 F5/F6 COE; 1948/55 truck (except as noted) and 1949/55 cars.

It does not include the float rod or float, the originals had to be used with it.

B5AF-9275-A .. 6V Fuel Sending Unit / Obsolete

NOS PARTS SOURCE in Olathe KS has 1 = 913-220-5746.

CARPENTER NOS OBSOLETE PARTS in Concord NC has 2 = 800-476-9653.

is your float good? I had an issue with 2 floats with holes, causing it to fill with gas and not work
