Recommended Intake Manifold

Just got a Holley carb PN 4160 for a 360 ci in a 1970 F-250 Sport Custom, wondering what intake would work well with this carb preferably someone who's installed/owned this combo. Any advice would be awesome, thanks.

Edelbrock Performer RPM.. PN 7105

.... upgrade the exhaust first. Otherwise ya won't realize the full benefits of swapping to a 4v carb.

....Headers, dual 2.5-inch tubing, and free flowing mufflers.

I'd stay with a good name in headers. The cheap ones don't always hold up. Smaller tube is generally better low end/mid range for basic street driving, larger tube for higher rpm.
Get the distributor curved for your vehicle and intended use. All this assuming the engine is otherwise healthy.

The performer intake is usually used for low rpm and low end torque. The performer RPM is for higher RPM

stock 360 . find a used Edelbrock performer . RPM version is an overkill unless you plan on adding higher C/R and a cam
imho

Some of the stock iron intakes perform almost as well, but you loose 77 pounds of pig iron to go aluminum and you can install it without an engine hoist.

Net weight reduction is 58 pounds.

Cast iron FE intake is 80 lbs.... an Edelbrock Performer/Performer RPM is 22 lbs.

Thanks for those exact figures. 77 pounds was the number we always threw around on Fordification, I never actually put one on a certified scale.

Just so you know for future reference, 4160 is that carb's "Model" number. The "list" number 80457 is what Holley goes by as far as a Part number is concerned. So if you ever go to buy parts for it go by 80457.
Now speaking of parts, here's what I would suggest after you upgrade the exhaust system as mentioned above.
That 80457 comes with a black color coded secondary spring for the back two barrels. Which are the secondaries. The black spring is the strongest one so the secondaries won't kick in until your 360 is higher in the RPM band. Holley makes a spring kit with weaker springs for you to experiment with. The object is to let the secondaries open as fast as the 360 can handle without any bog. Holley part number 20-13.

Now to swap out these springs super quick and easy Holley makes a "Quick Change Cover" kit. Part number 20-59. Once this cover kit is installed it only takes a Phillips screwdriver and 20 seconds to swap out a spring. So on the same test drive you can keep changing springs until you have it dialed in.

It goes here.

If you have an A/T you will find the trans kick down rod will now be too short. Holley makes an extension for it when going from 2V to 4v like you are. Holley part number 20-41.

Thanks for this extra bit of info, really helped out. we ordered the carb as well as the extra hardware and yes it is an A/T, and i never would have known to get that bracket for it.

Good decision! Rpm is overkill for stock 360. From reading the FE forum it seems as if headers actually hurt a stock 360. Prob not enough stroke and head flow to need them.

I still recommend the RPM over the Performer... not overkill.

My first 360 was a new F250 4x4 with 4.10 gears. I did nothing but bolt a set of cheap Cyclone headers on it and picked up a solid 1 1/2-2 mpg and top speed went from 85 to well over a hundred. I was 21 then, nowdays I have no idea where my vehicles top out.
