Wanting to try my hand at some body work, figured my rear wheel arches wouldn't be a bad place to start, but then I noticed the inner part of the bed where the wheel housing is was rusted out bad too, and off that comes a brace to the outer bed skin. Since everything is rusted and allowing the outer bed skin to flap like a flag in the wind, what is the right order of precedence for welding in new panels? Maybe the inner bed sides wheel housings, then outer arches? Looks like I should be able to find all the panels, any brand or type that's better than others? Thanks!
Are you sure you can get inside patch parts?
I have not looked for them and why I asked.
Now if you can get them and want to try your hand replacing them then I say start there first.
It will give you practice where it can't be seen if it does not turn out good.
One you are happy with that move on to the outside of the bed.
As for patches I used Tabco.Com and was vary happy with them. I did floors, rockers, cab corners, rear door posts and lower inside & outside left door.
I am now working on using a style side metal bed floor in place of the flare side wood bed. Just a litter more work at the tail get end to do.
Oh I did not need practice so it was jump right in with both feet!
