wow!!!!
I just went to service a fire system at the local county dump and on my way out I rolled over the scales just for fun. They said my van weighs 6920 pounds! That’s with an eighth-tank of gas!
I know I read somewhere that these things weigh 5300 pounds curb weight (or whatever the verbiage was). I do have three sets of metal bins in here and some product from my job… But in my opinion this just doesn’t add up…
Completely empty except for me my 4.6 E250 weighs 5500lbs. It is a bare bones commercial van with no interior of any kind except for a plywood floor in the rear. Weight adds up quickly so maybe you have more stuff in there than you think.
Not as much as a diesel so there you go.. he's probably got 1000-1200lbs of junk in there or..... somethings not right about that scale he used.
I’ve been thinking about my junk level this whole time... definitely plays a part, but man 1000lbs..?
it does have power windows and locks and auxiliary battery (stock), sliding side door, and a few hundred pounds of “stuff” but...
and I know the cargo shelves/ bins are probably 80lbs each (x3)
i used to load this thing down with dozens of fire extinguishers (averaging 12-13lbs each) and 2-3 boxes of small lead batteries (35lbs per box) and tools and even more lightweight parts.
Thats what gets me- I used to load up this van full of product and drive 1,000+ miles a week. Since I got promoted; I unloaded the van “as much as possible” of the heavier stuff, and now I find out it’s at 75% of its cargo weight limit.
Are those aluminum bins/shelves? If so then your truck is pretty much empty so that just leaves the scale as suspect because no way your truck weighs more than a diesel.

no, they are Ford “quietflex” or something like that. Metal frames and reinforced plastic shelves/drawers
my club wagon with full passenger interior and 3 of the 4 rear bench seats installed and no extra junk installed or laying around, and full fuel tank, no driver.
6340lbs, front axle 3180lbs, rear axle 3160lbs note: the 20lbs difference in my weight balance....not bad very close to 50%/50%
full fuel tank, no driver, no bench seats only front captains seats comes in at
I believe mine was 8000 pounds, its a 15 passenger with one rear bench over the axle, wheelchair lift and me in it, oh and my subwoofer in the rear, but that is not 1000 pounds of stuff.
Took my '94 Conversion Van to the scales today and received a surprise. 6540lbs. That includes an aluminum Ricon chairlift, Ricon 6-way driver's seat, jack knife style bench seat-sofa, tool box and small (3gal) air compressor and me. That's 26lbs per Horse Power! I think I'll add some "speed lines" to the photo of my van out of kindness.
