As an Apple owner/fanboy I only buy Apple. We have 2 macbooks, iPhones, and iPads. There is not ONE non Apple in our house with the exception of my Kindle. How in the hell does SCT only offer PC support?!? What do I need to do to update my new tunes onto my tuner?

I bought both my daughters and my wife a Macbook Pro about a year ago.
I spent a bit of time setting all three of them up.
So I got fairly familiar with them. I put Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird on all three so they would be familiar (since they all had Winblows PC before)
At the end of it, They were happy and now only once in a while I'll use my Wife's Macbook Pro.
Good thing it's only once in a while..... after using the Mac Desktop environment, I usually want to just drive my F350 Dually over it MULTIPLE TIMES!!
You could boot up Winblows in Bootcamp, (which I wouldn't do)
Or since you're really only using (Apple modified) BSD Unix anyway, you can probably run the SCT update program using Wine https://www.winehq.org/
Many developers don't write applications for the MAC for the same reason they don't write them for LINUX.
For every MAC out there, there's 10000 Winblows boxes..... It's just not worth it.
In 1998, I installed Linux on one of my computers. This is what use now almost exclusively.
I'd be curious to know, Rick, why you think Bootcamp is not a great idea? My old MacBook is in the shop right now and I couldn't remember the name of the product I had used before, so I asked about Bootcamp.
I was hoping to run IDS on it, but didn't know until just now that SCT requires Windows, too!
Yep, That is why I still have a PC in the house.
Also you need a PC to use IDS and I have not tried
to use BOOTCAMP to run IDS or the SCT app.
I’d be interested to know if this works with either bootcamp or parallels I’ve heard that the sct app will work but can’t confirm. I don’t have ids but I’d still kind of like to know if it works just out of curiosity. Ids needs an older version of windows like xp or 7 too doesn’t it, or will it work on a computer with whatever the new windows O.S. is?

Nothing wrong with Bootcamp or any other VM probably. I used to dual boot Linux and Winders with no problems. It's ok until you make an error or the Winbreak Breaks something.
Now if I want run it on this quad-core HP laptop, I just swap the HD with the one that has Win10 on it.
I only use solid state drives now and both Linux and Win***** runs just fine. It only takes a few minutes to swap drives.
The main problem with me and Microshaft is that I use it so infrequently that I have to wait for about a half hour for it to update before it's usable. It usually wants to reboot several times and then do virus updates and scans.
While it does all that, it's very slow doing anything else. All this on a Core i5 with 8gb ram...... Great system!
Most people only use their computer to do email, Facebeek and internet browsing etc. Linux works perfect for that and just works, doesn't break, doesn't get virus's, comes with an entire suite of free software and doesn't ask for money (ever)
You can update it at your leisure or it will do it automatically. But you can hardly tell when it does, and it almost never wants to reboot (except after kernel updates which are infrequent) And now there are kernel updates that do not require a reboot.
And if you wonder who uses Linux (or Unix) you're using it right now!!
This forum runs on Nginx, which for want of a better description is nearly the same as that MAC (BSD unix box you MAC users are already using!!)
Sorry for the hijack! Back to the OP's "problem"
1. Try installing SCT on WINE or boot Winblows using any VM or Bootcamp etc....

Rick come on over to the Junk Drawer thread. You can do hijacking there.
Why not just buy one laptop specifically for diagnosis and running the software for your truck? If you spent all that money on Apple products $500 or less for a decent Microsoft laptop should not be that bad. Then you can erase everything (removing all the crap software) and leave nothing but windows for you to run all the programs you would want to run for vehicles software sounds more like a better choice to me at least. I don't do Apple, won't ever buy one, and Windows works for me.linex has been tempting but I need to learn more about programing before I dig into it, as it is I don't like it.
No, the apple fanbois won't do that, they would much rather bitch that things don't work on a mac
Exactly. Therein lies one of the problems when owning a MAC. You can only use it to do "regular stuff"...........
You have to have a second (Winblows) computer when you want to run specialized programs, OR you have to install Win**** or an emulator like WINE (Wine Is Not an Emulator ) on the MAC..... But at least you can still say you're running a MAC
Wine (originally an acronym for "Wine Is Not an Emulator") is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, macOS, & BSD. Instead of simulating internal Windows logic like a virtual machine or emulator, Wine translates Windows API calls into POSIX calls on-the-fly, eliminating the performance and memory penalties of other methods and allowing you to cleanly integrate Windows applications into your desktop.
You do not have to know anything about "programming"
LINUX is easier to install than Windex, no programming required. none. no "Command Prompt" required either.
It installs directly from a thumb drive, DVD (people still use those?) or you can install directly from the internet (a little harder and does require some tinkering, but works well)
Lol my bad on the spelling, and when I say programming I meant for what I would use Linux for (practice programming) to personalize it to my liking. Windows does everything I need right now, and like I said I won't ever buy an Apple product unless there is no other way around it.
