Who still sports the 7.3 plastic engine cover?

I, too, have the useless little cover sitting in my garage somewhere.
However, I did manage to find a use for the three studs on which the cover was designed to fit: an old electric radiator fan of about 18 or so inches in diameter that I had from another project. I installed the fan on the studs for the cover, and so the fan resides just above the engine and its turbocharger. I put louvers in the hood right above the fan and wired the fan to a timer and a switch so I can operate it when the ambient air approaches the century mark while sitting in traffic with the air conditioner on. I also run the fan 10 minutes or so after hot engine shut-off in order to draw the super-hot air from around the turbo and general engine heat from the engine bay. This should be beneficial to some of the components under the hood, such as the batteries, hoses, computers, sensors, etc. Of course, I don't actually know if it does any good, but it does get rid of a lot of heat, which you can see shimmering and streaming out of the louvers in hot weather. And, it fills up the gap left by that useless cover :-)

Still have mine, the only time I think about taking it off for good is when I change the fuel filter. I haven't and probably wont ever get around to modding my truck as much as you guys have, so its no biggie for me. On a fairly stock engine I think it looks okay, that said, it is a useless thing to have.
