155,000 miles. previous owner said he replaced plugs and coils...but occasionally, it misses a bit. Seems to maybe have happened after I allowed the fuel to get low....thinking maybe I sucked something up into the fuel filter. But, I see that it's in the tank, and...it's considered a permanent filter...so unlikely fouled. What are your thoughts

 

Could still be an ignition problem...just because new parts are installed doesn't mean they can't fail. An intermittent miss is hard to pinpoint. Spark problems feel like very sudden sharp engine changes, and fuel will tend to be a bit more of a rounded edge feeling. Like a spark miss causing a very sudden change and a fuel miss causing a more erratic stumbling change.

 

Fuel gets low the fuel pump has to work harder, 155,000 miles and the sock on the fuel filter is probably plugged up also.
You get enough crap in the tank and even a non serviceable fuel filter will need replaced.
