Green guy questions

I want to thank the guys who answered my previous questions.
I recently made the move from a gas truck to a diesel and know nothing about them. I have an 87 f350 6.9idi. I'm trying to understand diesels better-

does this truck have one diesel pump that sends fuel to 8? injectors?
Or does it have one pump per injector?
Thanks in advance for the help. F

your truck has one low pressure fuel pump(lift pump) on the side of the block that draws fuel out of the tanks and sends it to the injector pump(high pressure pump).
the injector pump then sends the fuel to each injector.

Injector pump is right on the top center of the engine. On the aft-facing side, you'll see one line in the center and eight lines around the outside. Fuel goes in the center line and is distributed, in a timed fashion, to each of the eight outer lines, to each of the eight injectors. Unlike a gasser, where spark timing determines when a cylinder fires, there's no spark with a diesel, so it's fuel delivery timing that determines when each cylinder fires. That's why the lines go from the IP to each injector in the engine's firing order. Also, the rotational position of the IP determines the injection timing.
