Windshield Wipers

Hey all,

I've got a 2016 Escape without rain sensor wipers.

I was just out driving in the rain, pulled into a parking spot, turned off car. The wiper blades just stopped in the middle of the windshield.

I'd swear they used to go back to the bottom and nestle themselves back under the back lip of the hood. Am I crazy?

I actually have an appointment to take it in on Wednesday and I'm at 35,500 miles. I'm sure they will know what the behavior is, but I don't really trust the only dealer I have near me (that is convenient at least). Figured I'd double check what is normal before I take it in.

Thanks

- Brad

I'm pretty sure our 2010 stays up dead on the windshield if ignition is turned off when the wipers are up. For them to continue, to run down to the park position, the wiper motor would have to be powered after the ignition is OFF, in the power delay group, plus, there would need to be an indication to a body computer that the ignition has been turned OFF, go park the wipers, don't keep running them in wiping mode with ignition OFF. Certainly possible that could be arranged, don't know if it is.

Really need a 2013 - on owner to try theirs out and comment.

Every vehicle I've owned and/or driven has always left the wipers up if the key is switched off mid-wipe. My '12 included.

Anyone out there with a new one that can confirm their wiper behavior?

I have a 2016 Escape and a 2015 F150 and if you turn off the ignition with the wipers in mid swipe they stay right where they are.

Only when you turn the wiper switch off first. On both my vehicles which are push 2 start. I have to open the door to actually "kill" everything except the engine.
